In order to be a successful president you must be a person of the people. A person that not just one ethnic group can call you "theirs" but have America call you their president as a whole. We need a leader that the whole country can be proud of, someone that understands the significance of the countrys history and how race has been involved in it.
We Obama gave his Imperfect Union speech, he made it clear that this years election would push the buttons to race. Obama clearly shows respect to all races. This could be due to his past. Growing up his family was exposed to racism. He went face to face with people not getting along due to the color of their skin. "All races are bound to a tragic past." Encounters with his family and racism opened his opinion. As he quotes "When faced with prejudice that you must always believe that they can write thier own indifferent. That why when Obama talks about race he does not catagorize he talks good about race, as a whole. But not to be seperate but to come together.
Obama says that we have " Problems that confront all race, that we need to unify instead of crictizize." That the topic of race is being talked about everywhere not only by politicians. He claims that People become angry when someone gets an advantage because of a racial injudice. This speech influenced a topic that has been going on forever. Race. How people look at it. What to do about it. The only thing to do is to move forward. To have the common goal of sucess. People may be from different backrounds and have different culture, but America needs to learn to accept each other. Obama gave this speech to show that he is not one bit afriad to bring up race, when others won't. Its something that needs to be talked about. Become fixed, and move forward, America as a whole. This speech shows importance to every single American in this country. It applies to EVERYONE, we all have the power to make a difference about race these days. This speech was one step forward in doing it.
